About
A Brief Synopsis
Hi, I’m Dr. Caitlin Raymond, a transfusion medicine physician, pathologist, writer, and educator. I created Blood, Bytes, and Beyond to explore the space between clinical practice and laboratory science. It's a space I know well, and one I believe deserves better communication, better systems, and better stories.

I write about blood products, lab medicine, diagnostic algorithms, and the messy, human parts of healthcare that we don’t always talk about. My goal isn’t just to explain the science — it’s to make it useful. Whether you’re a clinician trying to navigate transfusion guidelines, a student learning lab medicine for the first time, or a healthcare professional tired of inefficiency and silos, this space is for you.

I believe precision and compassion can coexist. I believe the lab isn’t just a black box — it’s a place where lives are shaped, decisions are made, and clarity matters. And I believe that thoughtful, honest writing has the power to change how we teach, practice, and lead in medicine.

On the Use of AI
Some of the writing on Blood, Bytes, and Beyond is created with the help of AI-based language tools. I use them as creative and organizational partners — to help shape drafts, clarify explanations, and turn complex science into something readable.

Every piece is reviewed, edited, and finalized by me. I maintain full editorial control and verify the medical accuracy of everything I publish. These tools make the work faster and sometimes sharper, but the ideas, judgment, and responsibility are entirely my own.

Thanks for reading. I’m glad you’re here.
